Positive Health Program (POS-H-PRO) is a new project implemented in CEAPP.
Project Director is dr hab. Dorota Węziak-Białowolska, prof. UJ - link to CV and list of publications
Project duration: 15.10.2021r. - 14.10.2023 (24 months)
Ordering institution: National Science Centre
Project value: 856 375,00 zł

About the project:
There is a common agreement regarding the importance of conventional exposures and adverse conditions (environmental, behavioral and  psychosocial ones) that contribute to elevated health risks. Without inclusion of positive assets, a deficient picture of determinants of health at the population level is likely to emerge. These positive factors are hypothesized not only to favorably affect health but also to potentially alleviate negative consequences of risk factors and harmful exposures. They, therefore, are argued to have a potential to play a powerful role in not only ill-health and injury prevention but – more importantly – in health and well-being promotion. Identifying and promoting factors positively contributing to positive health and well-being (and not merely eliminating barriers or mitigating existing risks) is vital for enabling individuals to live fulfilled lives, especially in an environment of dynamically changing demographic structures mostly related to population aging, evolving lifestyles (sedentary lifestyles, e-cigarettes), and environmental challenges.

POS-H-PRO will aim to provide evidence on the impact of selected positive factors (positive exposures) and establish which policies will be most likely successful in their promotion. Specifically, the POS-H-PRO will focus on the examination of:

- the impact of positive stimuli in life and at work on alleviating the negative effects of disease burden, social distancing and economic shutdowns related to COVID-19,
- the impact (1) passive/receptive and (2) active/participatory art engagement has on longevity and well-being,
- antecedents of purpose and meaning in life because purpose in life is a well-recognized factor positively affecting health and longevity.

Centre for Evaluation and Analysis of Public Policies cooperates within the implemented projects and initiatives with the below mentioned departments and external institutions:

  • Institute of Sociology UJ – the agreement for conducting the consultations and research with the preparation of recommendations for the studies programme in the field of sociology and social science,
  • Jagiellonian Language Centre – the agreement for conducting the consultations and research with the preparation of recommendations for the courses programme and the changes in the offer of JCJ as well as the analysis of the needs of academic teachers,
  • Institute of Economy, Finances and Management - the agreement for conducting the trainings and consultations covering the research methodology, preparing the thematic scope for trainings and designing the materials for the trainings' participants,
  • Centre for the Socio-Legal Analysis - the agreement for conducting the research projects, initiatives for cooperation with the socio-economic environment as well as education initiatives,
  • Medical University - the agreement for conducting the trainings and consultations covering the research methodology in the project CARTHAGO,
  • Office for the Strategic Programme Initiative of Excellence – Priority Research Area Heritage
  • Boston College – agreement for conducting the analysis of the workers aged 50+ and the subjective assessment of the remote work in the agreement "Solidifying the Sloan Research Network”
  • Analysis of the effects of the remote education effects during the pandemic 2020,
  • Jagiellonian Panel Study 2002+ - panel study in the Priority Research Area Society of the Future in the Strategic Programme Initiative of Excellence at the Jagiellonian University. The aim of the project is to analyse the selected aspects of life such as education activity, social activity (such as the social work, volunteering), being active on labour market, the assessment of health condition, the plans for continuing education, the social connectedness etc.
